Safety and Security Declarations for Imports from EU

With effect from 31 January 2025, all imports from the EU into the UK will require a Safety & Security declaration (ENS).

Key points

Who is Responsible?

  • The carrier or haulier is legally responsible for completing the ENS.

  • They can delegate this task to a third party (such as an intermediary or importer), but they remain accountable.

What is Required?

  • The ENS includes 20 mandatory fields and 8 additional fields that may be needed.

  • Declarations must be submitted via the Safety and Security Great Britain (S&S GB) platform.

Information Needed for ENS Submission

To complete an ENS, you will need:
✅ Documents & licences (e.g., airway bills, commercial invoices)
✅ Goods description
✅ Consignor & consignee details
✅ Type, amount & packaging of goods
✅ Mode of transport at the border
✅ Onward journey details
✅ S&S GB location code for the port of entry
